Sun Video Learning Exchange
Website: Sun Video Learning Exchange
Client: Sun Microsystems
Dates: May 2008 - September 2008
Scope: 40 developer days
Description: Sun Microsystems approached the Chapter Three team in May 2008 to assist their web development staff in designing and developing the Video Learning Exchange community site. Under a very compressed time-table Chapter Three completed two site design passes, and paired with Sun’s team completed all feature development, quality assurance testing, and feature revisions in time for a site launch in early July 2008.
The Learn Exchange enables Sun employees to easily publish rich media training content such as videos, MP3 podcasts, and documents to be accessed by all Sun staffers and customers. Media can be rated, sorted, and tagged by site members and is automatically transcoded and hosted on LimeWire, a third party content delivery network. This site made the most of Drupal’s media content management functionality and allowed Sun to cost effectively deploy an impressive media platform in a very short time frame.
Features:
- Media Management: The site supports a mix of document, video, audio content. All content is automatically transcoded when and stored on the LimeWire content delivery network.
- Community Features: Media assets can be tagged, rated, commented. These interactions are then compiled as statistics that are used on the content listing pages.
